Engaged Compassion:

Buddhism is based on the inevitability of human suffering and founded in the efforts to alleviate it. The Mahayana Buddhist movement, of which Zen is part, is dedicated to universal salvation, achieving salvation, healing and liberation for oneself and for all creation. Our Zen Vows express these aspirations that we may be Bodhisattvas, Zen practitioners working on ourselves and in the world to become dynamic energy fields of benefaction.

It really boils down to this: that all life is interrelated. We are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied into a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one destiny, affects all indirectly.

Neighborhood Cleanup

Towards a Trash-Free Neighborhood

We all deserve clean spaces every day and in-person cleanups keep us connected to nature and to our communities. We partner with official cleanups like Save the Sound and other pop-up events in the community to remove trash before it enters waterways impacting animals and people. Let us all work towards a more sustainable future, not just for humans but for everything that’s connected to Long Island and beyond!

In preparation for our intergenerational walk on the April 27 (Earth Day is 4/22), we will be preparing the route by picking up and trash and debris as well as applying ground stickers to show the way. We will provide gloves, trash bags, and grabbers. We will meet as a group at 43 Sims St, Bridgeport, CT 06604 at 11 am.

Please let us know if you plan on attending via the ‘Get in Touch With Us’ below!
